Kids need many experiences using tools in the garden and starting early, can help reinforce these skill! Today the TK students helped loosen the soil with rakes, spades and trowels.
We talked about the different functions for each tool and how to use them properly.
As they worked the soil, they discovered many things. Some of the dirt was super dry, other parts were very moist. We talked about having even soil moisture around the roots of the plants and why that is important.
Before leaving, we had a quick fresh taste of the garden…kale with a sprinkling of lime and salt. Yum!
