Thomas Starr King Middle School central green project

Just in time. Finished today to welcome the youngsters tomorrow! Phase 1. Thomas Starr King Middle School central green project. Principal Mark Naulls and www.enrichla.org stretched a bucket of money to THE LIMIT to create a central park that feels like a college campus. On a shoestring, this summer we added water stingy sprinklers, St Augustine Grass, a second Habitat garden ( inspired by the UN nature report) and pathways. This is sustainable. This middle school feels pastoral. I will not let this wither. We finally brought attention to the cob bench built by David Egeler, a former teacher and we get to remind students about the UN report. We added posts and chains to limit walking to the paths ( grass is for lounging) and we added drip to EVERY tree and shrub.
